Originally constructed in 1927 as a hall for the *Freie Turnerschaft* – a workers’ sports club associated with the Social Democratic Workers’ Party – it served as a community and event space. Throughout its history it hosted diverse events including political rallies, dances and theatrical performances. Following periods of disuse and renovation, Nordbahn Saal was reopened in 2018 after being acquired by local residents who restored it as a cultural center.
