The Dakota Jazz Club & Restaurant in Minneapolis has a long history as a premier venue for both established and emerging jazz artists. Opened in 1985, it quickly became a cornerstone of the city’s music landscape. Originally founded by Jim Peterson, the club was envisioned as an intimate listening room prioritizing musical quality over large capacity.
Throughout its existence, The Dakota has hosted numerous renowned musicians across various jazz subgenres, as well as artists incorporating elements of blues, funk, and world music. The venue underwent significant renovations in 2007 following a fire, reopening with expanded capacity and improved acoustics while retaining its commitment to providing an exceptional live music experience.
