The band is known for their unique musical style often described as “immigrant rock,” blending elements of Eastern European folk, mariachi, tango, and indie rock. Their instrumentation frequently includes trumpet, accordion, upright bass, and violin, contributing to a cinematic and emotionally resonant sound. DeVotchKa gained prominence through their inclusion in the soundtrack for the 2006 film *Little Miss Sunshine* and have released several studio albums throughout their career.

The Waiting Room Lounge is an independent music venue located in the Benson neighborhood of Omaha. Established in 2004, it has become a significant hub for both local and touring acts across various genres including indie rock, punk, electronic, and experimental music. The venue is recognized for its intimate setting with a capacity of approximately 300 people and its focus on supporting emerging artists alongside established names. It consistently receives recognition as one of the best small music venues in the Midwest, known for quality sound and a dedicated local audience. The space previously operated as a social club before its transformation into a live music establishment.
