DeVotchKa will perform at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on October 1st, 2026. The band is known for its unique musical style often described as “gypsy punk,” blending elements of Eastern European folk, mariachi, and indie rock. Their instrumentation frequently features the theremin, accordion, trumpet, and double bass, creating a cinematic and emotionally resonant soundscape. Formed in Denver, Colorado in the late 1990s, DeVotchKa gained prominence through their soundtrack work, notably contributing to the score of the 2006 film *Little Miss Sunshine*.

The Fonda Theatre itself has a significant history within Los Angeles’ entertainment landscape. Originally built in 1926 as the Carter Theatre, it was designed by Lewis A. Smith and initially operated as a Vaudeville house. Throughout its history it has undergone several name changes – including the Music Box – and served various purposes including a screening room for early talkies and a television studio. Restored in 2002 and renamed The Fonda Theatre, it now functions primarily as a live music venue with a capacity of approximately 1,200 people.
