DeVotchKa is scheduled to perform at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, California on September 30, 2026. The band is known for its unique musical style often described as “gypsy punk,” blending elements of mariachi, Eastern European folk, and indie rock. Formed in Denver, Colorado in the late 1990s, DeVotchKa gained prominence through its distinctive sound and contributions to film soundtracks, including work on *Little Miss Sunshine*. Their instrumentation frequently incorporates the theremin, accordion, trumpet, and upright bass.

The Belly Up Tavern has been a significant venue for live music since 1978. Originally established as a honky-tonk bar, it transitioned to focusing on a diverse range of musical genres including rock, reggae, blues, and alternative. Located in a relatively small space – holding approximately 600 people – the venue is renowned for its intimate atmosphere and proximity to performers. It’s consistently ranked among the top small concert venues in the United States and has hosted numerous nationally and internationally recognized artists throughout its history.
