Deafheaven will perform at The Fillmore Detroit on October 1st, 2026. The band is recognized for their distinctive blend of black metal and shoegaze, often categorized as “blackgaze.” Their music incorporates elements of post-rock, creating atmospheric and emotionally resonant compositions characterized by blast beats, tremolo picking, and soaring melodic passages alongside heavily textured guitar work. Formed in San Francisco, California in 2010, Deafheaven has released several critically acclaimed albums including *Sunbather* (2013) and *Ordinary Corrupt Human Being* (2018).
The Fillmore Detroit opened in 1925 as a movie palace named the Fox Theatre, undergoing several transformations before becoming a live music venue. It was originally designed in the opulent style typical of the era with intricate ornamentation and a large seating capacity. Purchased by Live Nation in 2011 and renovated, The Fillmore Detroit maintains much of its historic architectural detail while functioning as a prominent concert hall. It is known for its excellent acoustics and relatively intimate setting compared to larger arenas, hosting a wide variety of national and international touring acts across multiple genres.
