David Helbock, an Austrian pianist and composer, will perform at Blue Note – Göttenbachaula in Idar-Oberstein, Germany on November 27, 2026. Helbock’s musical style is characterized by a unique blend of jazz improvisation, classical influences, and elements of Neue Deutsche Welle – often described as “post-modern jazz” or “jazz with a twist.” He frequently employs extended techniques on the piano, incorporating percussive sounds and prepared piano methods into his compositions and performances. His work often features complex harmonies and rhythmic structures alongside melodic accessibility. He leads several projects including the David Helbock Trio and has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians.

Blue Note – Göttenbachaula is a concert venue located within the Felsenkirche (Rock Church) in Idar-Oberstein. Originally consecrated in 1482 and significantly altered in the 18th century, the church is built directly into a quartzite rock formation. The space began hosting jazz concerts under the “Blue Note” banner in 2018, establishing itself as a notable venue for acoustic performances due to its exceptional natural acoustics and intimate atmosphere.
