The Czech Philharmonic will perform at Philharmonie de Paris on November 7, 2026. Established in 1891, the Czech Philharmonic is renowned for its distinctive sound – often described as possessing a warm, richly textured tone and a strong emphasis on string playing. The orchestra has a long tradition of interpreting both Czech composers like Dvořák, Smetana, and Janáček, and the broader classical and romantic repertoire. Throughout its history, it has been associated with prominent conductors including Václav Talich, Rafael Kubelík, and Karel Ančerl.
Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in January 2015, is a significant addition to Paris’s cultural landscape. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the venue is notable for its modern architectural style and acoustic capabilities. It’s located in the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement and comprises two main halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez (with a capacity of approximately 2,400 seats) and the smaller Salle des Yeux (Studio). The complex aims to be a comprehensive center for musical creation, education and performance – hosting diverse genres beyond orchestral music.
