Cymande will perform at Jazz À La Villette in Paris, France on August 28, 2026. The British band, active primarily in the 1970s, is known for its unique blend of jazz, funk, soul, and Caribbean rhythms – specifically influences from St. Lucian and Jamaican music traditions. Their sound incorporates complex arrangements featuring layered percussion, melodic basslines, and often utilizes both male and female vocal harmonies. Despite a relatively short initial run, Cymande has experienced a significant resurgence in popularity due to sampling within hip-hop and electronic music over the past few decades.

Jazz À La Villette is an annual music festival held in the Parc de la Villette, a large park located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Established in 1995, it showcases a diverse range of jazz and related musical genres, encompassing both established artists and emerging talents. The festival consistently aims to present innovative programming that extends beyond traditional jazz boundaries, frequently incorporating elements of world music, electronic sounds and contemporary improvisation.
