Cortex is scheduled to perform at Rev Hall in Portland, Oregon on September 15, 2026. Cortex creates music generally described as experimental electronic, often incorporating elements of ambient, industrial, and techno. Their sound is characterized by complex sound design, atmospheric textures, and a focus on immersive sonic experiences. The project is primarily the work of American artist Brian McBride, previously associated with the band Matmos. Cortex’s discography includes albums released on Warp Records and Raster-Noton, demonstrating a consistent exploration of challenging and innovative electronic music forms.

Rev Hall (formerly known as the Roseland Theater) is a historic venue in Portland’s Old Town Chinatown neighborhood. Originally constructed in 1925 as a ballroom and movie palace, it has undergone several transformations throughout its history. It operated for many years as a prominent dance hall hosting nationally touring acts across various genres. Following periods of disuse and renovation, it reopened under the name Rev Hall in 2023 after being acquired by Revolution Hall ownership. The venue retains much of its original architectural detail while functioning as a mid-sized concert space with a capacity around 1,000 people.
