Coro del Teatro del Bicentenario, the resident choir of Guanajuato’s Bicentennial Theater, will perform at the Templo de la Compañía de Jesús on October 8, 2026. The Templo de la Compañía de Jesús, located in Guanajuato City, is a significant example of Baroque architecture in Mexico. Construction began in 1738 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), though it continued after their expulsion from New Spain in 1767 under the direction of civilian architects. The church is characterized by its ornate facade featuring indigenous stone carvings and elaborate sculptural details – a style referred to as Mexican Baroque or Churrigueresque. Its interior boasts gilded altarpieces, intricate frescoes, and a distinctive floor plan reflecting its original Jesuit design.
