Experience Columbus Symphony Orchestra live on September 18th
Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is a fully professional orchestra performing a broad repertoire spanning classical masterworks, contemporary compositions, pops selections, and educational programs. Established in 1951, the CSO is recognized for its artistic excellence and community engagement throughout central Ohio. The orchestra typically features around 80 musicians and performs a regular season of concerts alongside outreach initiatives.
The performance on September 18, 2026, will take place at the Ohio Theatre. Originally opened in 1928, the Ohio Theatre is a significant example of atmospheric theatre design, built during the “movie palace” era. It was conceived by Michael Balaban and designed by Thomas W. Lamb, incorporating elements of French Renaissance and Moorish architectural styles. The interior boasts opulent décor including a grand lobby, intricate plasterwork, and a lavishly ornamented auditorium.
Throughout its history, the Ohio Theatre has hosted vaudeville acts, films, and live performances of various genres. After facing potential demolition in the 1960s, it was saved by a community preservation effort and restored to its former glory.
