The Forest Haven is a historic property located in the Town of Saugerties. Originally established in 1958 as a residential treatment facility for children with developmental disabilities, it operated under that capacity until its closure in 1978. The site subsequently fell into disrepair and gained notoriety for alleged mistreatment of residents and reported paranormal activity; becoming a location of interest for urban exploration and paranormal investigations. In recent years, efforts have been made towards restoration and repurposing the property. It is now being developed as a multi-use arts and cultural center aiming to host events while preserving the site’s historical significance – though ongoing restoration work continues. The grounds offer a unique, somewhat rustic setting for performances.
