Chassol, the stage name of Christophe Chassol, will perform at Cité Musicale-Metz on February 11, 2027. Chassol is a French composer, pianist, and visual artist known for his unique approach to music creation. He utilizes a self-developed live sampling technique, recording sounds – often voices and instrumental textures – during performance and then manipulating and layering them in real-time to construct intricate compositions. His work blends elements of classical music, jazz improvisation, electronic music, and world music influences. Often described as “ultrasampling,” this process results in pieces that are both meticulously crafted and spontaneously generated.

Cité Musicale-Metz is a significant cultural institution in Metz, France, inaugurated in 2015. Designed by the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban alongside Jean de Gastines and Philip Harmonie, the complex is notable for its innovative architectural features including a distinctive wooden framework and translucent polycarbonate envelope. It houses several performance spaces: a concert hall with a capacity of approximately 1,200 seats (Salle de Concert), a smaller modular room (Salle Polyvalente), and rehearsal spaces.
