Charles Lloyd Quartet will perform at La Maison Symphonique de Montréal on June 27, 2026. The quartet is renowned for a distinctive sound blending post-bop jazz with elements of folk, classical music, and world music traditions. Lloyd, a saxophonist and flautist, is considered a major figure in avant-garde jazz, having initially gained prominence in the 1960s before a period of relative seclusion and a significant return to performing and recording in the late 1980s. His work often emphasizes melodic improvisation and atmospheric textures, frequently incorporating spiritual and meditative qualities. The current quartet features Bill Frisell on guitar, Reuben Rogers on bass, and Eric Harland on drums – musicians highly regarded within the contemporary jazz scene.
La Maison Symphonique de Montréal opened in 2011 as part of Place des Arts, Montreal’s largest performing arts complex. It replaced the previous Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier as the primary home of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Designed by Provencher_Roy architectes, the hall is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics achieved through a ‘shoe-box’ design and adjustable acoustic elements.
