Chanticleer, an ensemble renowned for its vibrant and virtuosic a cappella performances, will present a concert at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sacramento on May 16, 2027. The group’s repertoire spans six centuries, encompassing Renaissance polyphony, jazz, spirituals, and contemporary compositions. Known for their precise intonation, blending, and expressive interpretations, Chanticleer frequently commissions new works and explores diverse musical styles while maintaining a core commitment to vocal excellence.

St. John’s Lutheran Church has served the Sacramento community since 1891. The current building, constructed in the Gothic Revival style, was dedicated in 1924 and is noted for its stained-glass windows and acoustic properties conducive to choral music. Historically significant within the city’s religious landscape, St. John's has consistently hosted musical events alongside its regular worship services. The church features a pipe organ installed in 1963 by Schlicker Organ Company and has undergone several renovations to preserve its architectural integrity. It remains an active congregation within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
