Chanticleer, an ensemble renowned for its captivating a cappella performances, is scheduled to appear at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, New York on October 8, 2026. The group specializes in a diverse repertoire spanning Renaissance polyphony, jazz, and contemporary compositions, consistently noted for its virtuosic vocal blend and expressive interpretations. Originally founded in 1978 as an extension of the Grace Cathedral Choir School in San Francisco, Chanticleer has grown into a globally recognized musical organization, winning numerous awards including a Grammy.

Proctors Theatre itself holds a significant place in the cultural landscape of the Capital Region. Opened in 1926 as a Vaudeville and movie palace, it underwent extensive restoration beginning in the late 1970s, saving it from demolition. The theatre is noted for its ornate architecture reflecting the lavish styles of the era, including Italian Renaissance and Rococo detailing. Today, Proctors functions as a multi-purpose performing arts center hosting Broadway tours, concerts, ballet, comedy shows and other events. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains a cornerstone of Schenectady’s downtown revitalization efforts.
