The Scala is a historic venue located in King's Cross, London. Originally opened as a cinema in 1909, it was known for screening primarily silent films. Throughout its history it transitioned into a popular music venue during the 1980s becoming renowned for showcasing alternative and indie acts. The building’s distinctive art deco interior has been maintained through renovations. It operated continuously as a live music space until its closure in 2023 due to redevelopment plans; however it reopened in May 2024 following extensive refurbishment while retaining much of its original character. The venue has a capacity of approximately 800 standing or 500 seated attendees.
