Cappella Mediterranea, led by conductor Leonardo García Alarcón, is an ensemble specializing in historically informed performance practice of Baroque and early Classical music, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean region. Their repertoire frequently explores lesser-known composers and blends musical traditions from across Europe and the Ottoman Empire. The group is recognized for its vibrant interpretations and commitment to research into performance techniques of the 17th and 18th centuries, often incorporating improvisation and ornamentation based on period sources.
The Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in January 2015, is a major concert hall complex located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, it comprises a Grande Salle with a capacity of approximately 2,400 seats renowned for its exceptional acoustics; a smaller, more intimate concert space known as the Salle des Yeux; and several rehearsal rooms and educational facilities. The complex represents France’s first purpose-built concert hall designed for both symphonic and contemporary music. It replaced earlier venues such as the Salle Pleyel as a primary location for classical music performances in Paris and serves as a national center for musical education and innovation.
