Brussels Philharmonic is recognized for its versatile repertoire, encompassing a broad range of orchestral music from the Baroque period through contemporary compositions. Flagey - Studio 1 is a historically significant concert hall located within the larger Flagey cultural complex in Brussels. Originally built as the main studio of the Belgian National Broadcasting Institute (INR/NIR) in 1938, it was designed with pioneering acoustic principles for radio broadcasting. Following extensive renovations completed in 2002, Studio 1 has been restored to its original Art Deco aesthetic while incorporating modern technical facilities. It’s now celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, making it a favoured venue for classical music performances, particularly chamber music and recitals, as well as jazz and other genres. The space maintains a relatively intimate atmosphere despite its capacity of approximately 450 seats. The building itself is considered an important example of modernist architecture in Belgium.
