The hall was built on the site of the former St. Willehad church, destroyed during World War II, incorporating elements of the original church tower into its design as a memorial. It quickly became a significant cultural venue within Bremen and northern Germany, hosting a wide range of events including classical music concerts, conferences and theatrical performances. The building underwent extensive renovation between 2018-2021 to modernize its facilities while preserving its architectural integrity and acoustic qualities.
