It’s notable for its innovative wooden construction and distinctive undulating roof structure, earning it the nickname "the musical shell." The complex houses several performance spaces, including a large concert hall with a capacity of approximately 1,200 seats, a smaller chamber music hall, and rehearsal rooms.

The venue aims to be a regional hub for musical creation and performance, hosting diverse programming encompassing classical music, jazz, contemporary music and world music. It was conceived as part of a larger initiative to enhance the cultural landscape of the Grand Est region of France.
