Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will perform at Hall for Cornwall in Truro on September 18, 2026. The BSO is recognised as one of the UK’s leading symphony orchestras, with a repertoire spanning over 130 years. Historically rooted in the late-Romantic tradition, the orchestra performs a broad range of music including standard classical works, contemporary compositions, and film scores. They are known for a warm, rich sound and frequently collaborate with prominent soloists.
Hall for Cornwall underwent a significant £25 million redevelopment, reopening in 2021 after a period of closure. The building itself has a complex history; originally built as the Cornish Assembly Rooms in 1879, it was designed by Silvanus Tregelles and served as a venue for various civic and social events. It later became known as the City Hall before being rebranded as Hall for Cornwall. The current iteration retains many original architectural features alongside modern facilities, aiming to serve as a cultural hub for Cornwall. The venue hosts a diverse programme encompassing theatre, dance, music and community events. Its acoustics have been significantly improved following the renovations to support performances like this orchestral concert.
