Bjarni Frímann Bjarnason is an Icelandic composer and musician whose work frequently blends elements of contemporary classical music with influences from Icelandic folk traditions and soundscapes. His compositions often feature evocative textures, exploring themes of nature, mythology, and the human condition. He is known for incorporating unconventional instrumentation alongside traditional orchestral forces.

The concert will be held within Eldborg, the main hall of Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik. Eldborg is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, designed by the renowned acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota. Completed in 2011, Harpa was a key project in Iceland’s recovery following the 2008 financial crisis and quickly became a landmark building representing Icelandic culture.

Eldborg’s design is inspired by basalt columns – a common geological formation in Iceland – and features a striking glass façade constructed from geometrically shaped glass panels that reflect light and the surrounding harbor environment. The hall has a seating capacity of approximately 1,800 and hosts a diverse range of performances including orchestral concerts, opera, ballet, and large-scale conferences. Its architectural and acoustic qualities have earned it international recognition as one of the world’s leading concert venues.
