Experience Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra live on February 13th
The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra is scheduled to perform at Tonhalle Düsseldorf on February 13, 2027. The orchestra, founded in 1905, is renowned for its distinctive sound, often described as possessing a rich, warm tone and a commitment to both traditional repertoire and contemporary works. They have a strong history of championing Norwegian composers like Edvard Grieg and Sigurd Raschèr, alongside interpretations of central figures in the orchestral canon. Under various esteemed conductors throughout its history, the orchestra has developed a reputation for technical precision and expressive depth.
Tonhalle Düsseldorf, opened in 1925, is a significant concert hall with a capacity of approximately 1,600 seats. Designed by architect Wilhelm Kreis, it represents an example of classical modernism. While originally built as a multi-purpose venue including exhibition space (hence “Tonhalle” – Sound Hall), it quickly became primarily known for its acoustics and suitability for orchestral performances. The hall underwent extensive renovation between 2017-2021 to modernize facilities while preserving its original architectural character and renowned acoustic properties. It serves as the primary performance space for the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra but regularly hosts visiting national and international ensembles.
