Westerkerk, meaning “Western Church,” in Enkhuizen is a significant landmark with a history dating back to the 17th century. Originally constructed between 1693 and 1695 on the foundations of an earlier medieval church, it was designed by Daniel Marot in a Baroque style. The church features a distinctive octagonal tower which served as a navigational aid for ships on the Zuiderzee (now IJsselmeer) until the closing of the Zuiderzee Works in 1932.

The current organ within Westerkerk was built by Flentrop Orgelbouw in 1968, following damage to its predecessor during World War II.
