Bayerische Philharmonie, established in 1945, is a German orchestra with a broad repertoire spanning from the classical and romantic periods through to contemporary works. While rooted in traditional orchestral performance, the ensemble frequently engages with modern compositions and cross-genre projects, known for its precision and expressive interpretations. The orchestra regularly performs at prominent concert halls throughout Bavaria and beyond, and maintains a strong presence in broadcast media.

The concert on August 2nd, 2026 will be held at Kloster Andechs, a Benedictine monastery located on the Holy Mountain (Heiliger Berg) near Andechs, Germany. Founded in the 12th century, the monastery has a long history linked to monastic brewing; its brewery is internationally recognized and contributes significantly to the monastery’s self-sufficiency. The current baroque complex largely dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, built upon foundations of earlier Romanesque structures.

Kloster Andechs is also a pilgrimage site dedicated to Saint Nicholas, attracting visitors for religious observance as well as its cultural significance. The monastery grounds include a basilica, brewery gardens, and various buildings hosting both monastic life and public facilities.
