Background Sounds is scheduled to perform at The Clutha, Glasgow on December 19th, 2026. The band creates music generally described as atmospheric post-rock, incorporating elements of ambient and shoegaze. Their compositions are primarily instrumental, focusing on layered textures, dynamic shifts, and evocative melodies. They have released two studio albums to date – “Ephemeral Echoes” (2022) and “Distant Shores” (2024) – receiving critical acclaim within the independent music press for their immersive soundscapes.

The Clutha is a well-known public house located on Stockwell Street in Glasgow city centre. Originally established in 1875, it has a long history as a traditional Scottish pub, frequently featuring live music, particularly traditional folk and contemporary Scottish bands. The venue holds significant cultural importance within Glasgow’s music scene. Tragically, The Clutha was the site of the Clutha helicopter crash in November 2013, where a police helicopter crashed through the roof resulting in fatalities.
