Baba Yaga is scheduled to perform at WUK – Werkstätten- und Kulturhaus – in Vienna, Austria on October 15, 2026. The musical project, led by Katrin Pauels, blends elements of medieval music, darkwave, and experimental electronic soundscapes. Often incorporating historical instruments alongside modern synthesizers and electronic beats, Baba Yaga’s compositions frequently draw inspiration from Slavic folklore and pagan imagery, creating a distinctly atmospheric and ritualistic sonic experience. Lyrics are often sung in multiple languages including German, English, and Old Church Slavonic.

WUK has a significant history as a self-managed cultural center established in 1976 within a former tram repair workshop. Originally conceived as a space for alternative cultural expression during a period of social and political activism, it continues to operate as an independent venue hosting diverse events encompassing music, theatre, visual arts, and workshops. The building itself reflects this history; retaining its industrial character while providing adaptable spaces for performances and exhibitions. WUK is known for its commitment to supporting subcultural movements and providing platforms for artists operating outside mainstream channels. It is located in the Favoriten district of Vienna.
