Azymuth, a highly influential Brazilian instrumental group, will perform at Melkweg in Amsterdam on October 5th, 2026. Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1973, Azymuth is central to the development of Brazilian jazz-fusion and possesses a distinctive sound blending samba, jazz, funk, and electronic elements. The group is known for its sophisticated harmonies, intricate arrangements, and prominent use of synthesizers alongside traditional Brazilian percussion. Throughout their career, they have released over 30 albums and collaborated with numerous international artists.

Melkweg ("Milky Way" in Dutch) is a renowned cultural center and music venue located in Amsterdam's Leidseplein area. Originally established in 1970 as a community center within a former milk factory – hence the name – it quickly became a vital hub for counterculture and alternative arts. Over the decades, Melkweg has hosted a diverse range of performances spanning music (from rock and pop to jazz and electronic), film screenings, theatre productions, exhibitions, and debates. It features multiple spaces including a large main hall (“The Max”), a smaller stage (“The Compaan”), and cinema rooms.
