Azymuth, a highly influential Brazilian instrumental group, will be performing at Knust in Hamburg, Germany on October 17, 2026. The band is renowned for its pioneering role in developing Brazilian jazz fusion, specifically a style often referred to as “samba-jazz” or “Brazilian instrumental.” Their music blends elements of samba, jazz, funk, and soul, characterized by sophisticated harmonies, intricate arrangements, and prominent use of electric piano, bass, and percussion. Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1973, Azymuth gained international recognition throughout the 1980s and continues to tour and record.

Knust is a cultural center situated in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg. Originally established as a squat in 1982 protesting against urban redevelopment plans, it was later legally recognized as a self-managed cultural institution. It operates on non-commercial principles and focuses on providing space for independent art and music scenes. The venue hosts a diverse range of events including concerts (spanning genres like jazz, punk, experimental music), theatre performances, exhibitions and workshops.
