Azymuth, a highly influential Brazilian instrumental group, will perform at Kaserne Basel on October 19, 2026. Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1973, Azymuth is central to the development of Brazilian jazz-fusion and samba-jazz. Their music blends elements of jazz improvisation with Brazilian rhythms, incorporating electric piano, synthesizers, bass guitar, and drums to create a distinctive and sophisticated sound. Throughout their career, they’ve released numerous albums and collaborated with international artists, gaining recognition for their innovative approach to Brazilian music.

Kaserne Basel (located at Rossstall 1) is a cultural center housed within a former brewery and barracks complex. Originally built in the late 19th century as part of the industrial area along the Rhine river, the buildings were repurposed in the 1980s to provide space for artistic production and presentation. The venue hosts a diverse program including concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and club events. Kaserne is known for its raw industrial aesthetic alongside its commitment to supporting contemporary and experimental art forms.
