Arcadi Volodos is scheduled to perform at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam on May 9, 2027. Volodos is a Russian pianist internationally recognized for his intensely expressive and technically brilliant performances. His repertoire is broad, encompassing composers from the Romantic era – particularly Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Liszt – alongside works by Bach, Mozart, and contemporary composers like Arvo Pärt. He’s known for a distinctive sound characterized by a wide dynamic range, nuanced phrasing and a deeply personal interpretation of the music.

The Concertgebouw, opened in 1888, is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and is consistently ranked among the world’s leading concert halls. Designed by Pierre Cuypers, the building's rectangular shape and specific dimensions contribute significantly to its celebrated sound quality; it avoids harsh reverberation while maintaining warmth and clarity. Throughout its history, the Concertgebouw has been home to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra but also hosts performances by leading international orchestras, conductors and soloists. The hall underwent a major renovation completed in 2023 which aimed to preserve its acoustic qualities while modernizing facilities.
