Classical Concerts in Amsterdam

Experience Antwerp Symphony Orchestra live on August 23rd

Antwerp Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam on August 23, 2026. The orchestra is recognized for its versatile repertoire spanning classical and contemporary works, with a particular emphasis on Flemish composers and a commitment to innovative programming. They frequently collaborate with internationally renowned soloists and are known for a dynamic and expressive performance style.

The Concertgebouw, opened in 1888, is widely considered one of the finest concert halls in the world due to its exceptional acoustics. Designed by Pieter Cuypers, it features a rectangular hall constructed primarily of wood, contributing to its warm and resonant sound. Throughout its history, the Concertgebouw has been the primary venue for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra but also regularly hosts performances by leading orchestras and ensembles from around the globe. Its architectural style blends neo-Renaissance and neo-Baroque elements. The hall’s acoustics are often attributed to its shoebox shape and lack of excessive reverberation control – allowing for natural sound projection. It underwent significant renovations in the 1980s to modernize facilities while preserving its core acoustic properties.
