Experience Anthony Roth live on November 14th

Anthony Roth Costanzo is a countertenor renowned for a repertoire spanning Baroque, classical, and contemporary music, frequently incorporating theatrical elements into his performances. His style is characterized by vocal agility, expressive phrasing, and a commitment to exploring the emotional depth of each work. He often champions new compositions alongside established pieces, and has collaborated with leading orchestras and opera companies internationally.

The performance on November 14th, 2026 will take place at the Holywell Music Room in Oxford. Established in 1748, it is the oldest purpose-built concert hall still in use in Europe. Originally constructed as part of Holywell Manor for small musical gatherings hosted by Rector John Fletcher, it quickly became a favoured venue for performances by composers including Haydn and Handel.

The room’s intimate size – accommodating approximately 500 attendees – contributes to its exceptional acoustics and unique atmosphere. Its architectural simplicity focuses attention on the performers, retaining much of its original 18th-century character despite some later modifications. The space is now managed by the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Music and continues to host a diverse programme of classical music events.
