The Isarphilharmonie is a concert hall located in the Gasteig cultural center in Munich. Opened in 1985, it serves as the primary performance space for the Munich Philharmonic orchestra during periods when the main Philharmonie am Gasteig hall is unavailable or unsuitable for specific performances. The hall is known for its excellent acoustics and relatively intimate setting, holding approximately 550 seats. It’s designed to accommodate a broad range of musical genres, including orchestral concerts, chamber music, and choral works. The building itself underwent extensive renovation as part of the larger Gasteig HP8 project which concluded in late 2023; however, the Isarphilharmonie remained operational during phases of construction.
