Dunedin Town Hall opened in 1937, constructed as part of the city’s civic centre development following a fire that destroyed the previous town hall in 1936. Designed by architects Miller & White, it is built in the Stripped Classical style using local Oamaru stone. The hall’s primary function is as a venue for concerts, conferences, and civic events. It houses a significant pipe organ built by Ronald Sharp, originally comprising four manuals and over 80 stops – though modifications have occurred over time. The building underwent substantial strengthening and refurbishment work completed in 2021 to improve its seismic resilience and functionality while preserving its heritage features. It remains a prominent landmark within Dunedin's central city.
