Experience Andreas Borregaard live on September 24th
Andreas Borregaard will perform at Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam on September 24, 2026. Borregaard is a Danish composer and drummer known for his work blending acoustic and electronic elements, often incorporating improvisation and extended techniques within contemporary classical music. His compositions frequently explore textural soundscapes and rhythmic complexity, drawing influence from both jazz and experimental electronic music scenes. He often performs solo, utilizing a customized drum kit equipped with sensors and electronics to manipulate and augment sounds in real-time.
Muziekgebouw, meaning “Music Building” in Dutch, opened in 2005 as part of the larger cultural complex known as the IJ-hallen. Designed by architect Wilhelm Holzbauer, it’s specifically designed for contemporary and new music, prioritizing acoustics and flexibility. Unlike traditional concert halls focused on orchestral repertoire, Muziekgebouw features a main hall with adjustable acoustics—panels can be moved to alter reverberation times—making it suitable for a wide range of musical styles including electronic music, jazz, and experimental performances. The building also houses smaller spaces for workshops, rehearsals and educational programs related to contemporary music practice.
