Classical Concerts in Basel

Experience André de Ridder live on November 29th

André de Ridder will perform at Theater Basel on November 29, 2026. De Ridder is a Dutch conductor known for his work bridging classical music with contemporary and electronic sound worlds. His performances frequently incorporate improvisation and explore the boundaries between genres, often collaborating with artists from diverse musical backgrounds including rock, pop, and electronic music scenes. He is recognized for leading ensembles in unconventional settings and fostering a dynamic relationship between performers and audiences.

Theater Basel comprises three venues: Theater, Concert Hall, and Stage in the Spalentor. The institution originated from two separate theaters – the Stadttheater founded in 1838 and the Schauspielhaus Basel established in 1917 – which merged in 1959 to form the current Theater Basel. The Theater building itself, designed by architects Buser, Curjel & Karrer, underwent extensive renovations completed in 2004, modernizing its technical capabilities while preserving its historical architectural features. It functions as a multidisciplinary performance space hosting opera, ballet, drama, and concert performances. The venue is significant as one of Switzerland’s largest stages and a major cultural hub for the region.
