The Weinberg Center for the Arts is a performing arts venue located in the heart of downtown Frederick. Originally constructed in 1926 as a movie palace named the Palace Theatre, it operated as a cinema for several decades. Facing potential demolition in the 1990s, a community-led fundraising effort secured its renovation and reopening in 2002 as The Weinberg Center for the Arts. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today it hosts a diverse range of performances including concerts, theatrical productions, dance performances, film screenings and community events; serving as a cultural hub for Frederick County and surrounding areas. The venue’s architecture retains much of its original Art Deco detailing.
