Experience Alexandre Tharaud live on April 11th
Alexandre Tharaud is a French pianist renowned for his poetic and subtly nuanced interpretations, particularly of composers from the Baroque and Romantic eras. His playing is often described as possessing a crystalline clarity combined with a deeply personal and expressive quality. While comfortable with standard repertoire, Tharaud frequently champions lesser-known composers and explores cross-disciplinary projects incorporating literature and visual arts into his performances. He is known for a distinctive stage presence, often performing barefoot.
The Philharmonie de Paris, inaugurated in January 2015, is a major concert venue located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. It forms part of a larger cultural complex known as La Villette. The building itself, designed by Jean Nouvel, features striking contemporary architecture and boasts exceptional acoustics. It houses two primary concert halls: the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez, seating approximately 2,400 people, and the smaller Salle de Découvertes.
The Philharmonie de Paris was conceived as a national project to address France’s lack of a dedicated concert hall comparable to those found in other major European capitals.
