The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center is a historic theater located in the heart of Great Barrington. Originally built in 1905 as a vaudeville house and cinema, it operated continuously for nearly a century before facing closure in 2004 due to financial difficulties. Following a significant restoration project completed in 2005, the Mahaiwe reopened as a non-profit performing arts center dedicated to presenting a diverse range of programming including live music, film, theater, dance, and educational events. The building retains much of its original architectural detail and boasts a seating capacity of approximately 650. It serves as an important cultural hub for the Berkshire region.
