Acoustic Alchemy will perform at the Catalina Casino in Avalon, California on October 11, 2026. The band is recognized for its distinctive blend of smooth jazz, incorporating elements of flamenco, Latin rhythms, and acoustic guitar work. Formed in the early 1980s by Greg Carmichael and Steve Marsh, Acoustic Alchemy gained prominence through instrumental compositions characterized by intricate guitar arrangements and melodic improvisation. They’ve released numerous albums throughout their career, consistently maintaining a dedicated following within the contemporary jazz scene.

The Catalina Casino, despite its name, has never functioned as a gambling establishment. Completed in 1929 under the direction of Wrigley family (owners of Catalina Island at the time), it was designed as a multi-purpose entertainment venue. Architecturally significant for its Art Deco style, the Casino features a large circular ballroom renowned for its excellent acoustics – a key factor in its continued use for concerts and events. The building also houses a movie theater and various other spaces. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains a landmark destination on Catalina Island, drawing visitors interested in both its architectural merit and cultural significance.
