Wolfgang Torkler is an Austrian-born, London-based multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer renowned for his deeply atmospheric and emotionally resonant electronic music. Initially gaining recognition as one half of the critically acclaimed duo, Banco de Gaia (with Tony McGuinness), Torkler contributed significantly to the development of psychedelic chill-out and worldbeat electronica throughout the 1990s and early 2000s – notably with albums like *Maya* (1994) and *Ancient Trances* (1995).

Following Banco de Gaia’s evolution, Torkler embarked on a successful solo career, releasing albums such as *Travelogue* (2007) and *The Shamans' Journey* (2013) on labels like TIP World Music. His style blends ambient textures, downtempo beats, field recordings from global travels – particularly focusing on indigenous cultures – and subtle melodic elements.

Torkler’s work has been featured in numerous film soundtracks and documentaries. He continues to perform live, often incorporating live instrumentation alongside his electronic productions.
