Experience Wolfgang Lackerschmid

Wolfgang Lackerschmid is a German composer and keyboardist, primarily known for his pioneering work in Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW) and electronic music. Emerging in the late 1970s, he initially gained recognition as a member of the influential Düsseldorf experimental band, Fehlfarben, contributing significantly to their distinctive post-punk sound with his unconventional keyboard textures.

Following Fehlfarben's disbandment in 1981, Lackerschmid embarked on a prolific solo career. His albums, like *Die Reise nach den Sternen* (1983) and *Malawi* (1985), showcased a unique blend of synth-pop, minimalist electronica, and often darkly humorous lyrical themes. He frequently incorporated spoken word elements and unconventional instrumentation.

Lackerschmid’s work has been highly influential on subsequent generations of electronic musicians. He continued to release albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, exploring ambient and experimental soundscapes. Beyond his solo output, he has collaborated with artists such as Blixa Bargeld (Einstürzende Neubauten) and contributed to film scores.
