Experience Wolfgang Hentrich
Wolfgang Hentrich (born 1947) is a German composer, sound artist, and pioneer of electronic music. Initially trained as a classical pianist, Hentrich transitioned to experimental electronic techniques in the late 1960s, becoming a key figure in the burgeoning German *Krautrock* scene. He’s best known for his work with Tangerine Dream between 1973 and 1977, contributing significantly to albums like *Phaedra*, *Rubycon*, and *Stratosphere*.
Hentrich’s style within Tangerine Dream focused on sequenced synthesizer patterns and atmospheric textures, helping define the band’s evolving sound. Following his departure, he pursued a solo career deeply rooted in ambient and minimalist composition, often incorporating field recordings and extended instrumental pieces. He founded the label “Mind Over Matter” in the 1980s, releasing his own works alongside those of other experimental musicians.
Beyond recording, Hentrich has composed scores for film and television. His influence extends to contemporary electronic music production techniques and continues to be recognized by artists exploring similar sonic landscapes. He remains an active composer and performer, consistently pushing boundaries within electronic sound design.
