Wheelchair Sports Camp is the project of Gus Pipkin, a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Emerging in the late 2000s, the act initially began as a live looping performance using modified instruments and assistive technology – a direct response to Pipkin’s cerebral palsy. While initially solo, Wheelchair Sports Camp evolved to include collaborators like Cody Matson and Patrick Davison, solidifying a dynamic trio.

Their sound is remarkably diverse, blending elements of synth-pop, indie rock, and experimental electronic music with often humorous and deeply personal lyrical content. Pipkin’s songwriting frequently addresses themes of disability, accessibility, and societal perceptions with both vulnerability and wit.

Wheelchair Sports Camp has released several albums including *Olympic Gold* (2013), *Guidebook for the Deconstructed* (2016), and *Hard to Find* (2019), receiving critical acclaim from publications like Pitchfork and NPR Music. They've toured extensively across the US, performing at festivals like SXSW and Moogfest. Beyond music, Pipkin is an advocate for disability rights and inclusive arts practices, actively engaging in workshops and discussions on these topics.
