Vladimir Jurowski is a highly acclaimed Russian-British conductor renowned for his insightful interpretations and commanding technique. Born in Moscow in 1972, he studied piano and conducting, immigrating to the United States with his family in 1990. He rapidly ascended the conducting world, becoming Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) in 2007, a role he held until 2021, achieving Principal Conductor Emeritus status.

Jurowski is particularly celebrated for his deep understanding of Russian composers like Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Stravinsky, often championing lesser-known works alongside established masterpieces. However, his repertoire extends broadly to encompass Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary music. He has held positions with Glyndebourne Festival Opera (Music Director 1998-2013) and currently serves as Artistic Director of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich (since 2021).

Notable accomplishments include critically lauded recordings with the LPO – particularly a complete Shostakovich symphony cycle – and numerous awards including a Gramophone Award for his recording of Britten’s *War Requiem*.
