Vijay Iyer is a highly acclaimed American composer and pianist born in 1971. He rose to prominence blending jazz with influences from Indian classical music, mathematics, and electronic soundscapes. Iyer’s musical journey began with classical piano training but rapidly evolved through explorations of improvisation and rhythmic complexity.

He leads his own trio – featuring Marcus Gilmore on drums and Linda May Han Oh on bass – consistently lauded for its intricate interplay and dynamic performances. Iyer has also collaborated extensively with artists like Robert Glasper, Wadada Leo Smith, and Fieldwork (with Tejasvini Hirji & Tyshawn Sorey).

A MacArthur Fellow (2013), Iyer has received numerous accolades including multiple Grammy nominations for albums like *A Cosmic Rhythm With Each Breath* (2022) and *Uneasy* (2015).
