Vernon Reid is a highly influential American guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter best known as the founder, guitarist, and primary composer of the pioneering rock band Living Colour, formed in 1984. His innovative guitar playing blends hard rock intensity with elements of jazz, funk, blues, and hip-hop – a style often credited with shaping the sound of alternative metal.

Reid’s distinctive technique incorporates complex chord voicings, extended range playing, and a signature use of effects. Beyond Living Colour's success with albums like *Vivid* (1988) featuring the hit "Cult of Personality," Reid has maintained a prolific career. He's collaborated extensively with artists across genres including Mick Jagger, Public Enemy, and Butthole Surfers.
